Preserving knowledge & Reviving History
Safi Library is a dedicated initiative to preserve and revive the rich historical, academic, and cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent, particularly focusing on the scholarly contributions of the Shiite community.

Sarfaraz Newspaper: A Peep into the Past
Sarfaraz newspaper was among the leading voices of All India Shia Conference. It documented the intellectual, political, and social discussion of the Shia community from 1924 to 2003. It assisted in documenting historical events, religious sermons, and social issues of interest to the community over time.
One of the feature articles of the 1952 edition discussed in detail the “Role of the Shia Community in India’s Freedom Movement.” The article demonstrated how important Shia leaders were, how they contributed to the construction of new India, and how they struggled for justice and voice. It created rare information about speeches, letters, and talks that characterized politics at that time.
Ancient Books: Gateway to the Past
One of the most prized books among Safi Library treasures is “Tohfatul Awam,” an ancient manuscript dating back to the 18th century. It is a seminal book among scholars who conduct research on Islamic theology, jurisprudence, and history.

Highlights of the Book:
- Covering elementary aspects of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence).
- Writings are in Persian and Arabic with writing and calligraphy of the times.
- Kept in its original form, with intentions to digitize and translate it for a wider readership.
- As part of our initiative to digitize all our books, this work will be online in the near future for scholars and researchers worldwide.
